Thornhill, Ontario — Going 12-for-24 (.500) with five RBI and seven runs scored in six games, Rockland Boulders 2B/OF Jared McDonald is Player of the Week, as selected by PointStreak, the league’s official statistician.
His most impressive outings took place Friday, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI in an 8-3 victory over Trois-Rivières, followed up by a two-homer evening Saturday in Rockland’s 5-3 loss to the Aigles. McDonald had at least two hits in five of the Boulders’ six games as Rockland went 3-3 on the week.
The Tucson, Ariz., native is currently in his fourth season with the Boulders and his tenth year as a professional. After an excellent 2017 campaign with the Boulders in which he led his team with 29 doubles, McDonald is having another solid season, currently hitting .293 with six home runs, 24 RBI and 12 doubles.
Previously, the 30-year-old spent the 2011 through 2014 seasons in the Atlantic, Frontier, American Association and North American independent leagues. He was originally a 21st-round choice of the Chicago White Sox in the 2008 draft.
