Just days after signing catcher Michael Cruz, the Quebec Capitales learned that the Puerto Rican would be getting a second chance in affiliated baseball, signing with the Los Angeles Angels organization on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old was released by the Chicago Cubs organization out of spring training and had planned to come to Quebec to continue his career. In 2018, Cruz hit 12 home runs and drove in 48 runs, mostly at the Class A level. He becomes the second player in 2019, following RHP Tyler Gillies (Milwaukee), to sign with the Capitales this off-season, only to later join an affiliated organization.
