Ottawa Champions RHP Phillippe Aumont has been named the league’s Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 20-26, as selected by PointStreak, the league’s official statistician.
Aumont had a superb outing Wednesday against Rockland, giving up one run on six hits with nine strikeouts in six innings of work in Ottawa’s 8-1 victory. Currently, the Gatineau, Quebec, native is second in the league with an 0.75 ERA and fifth with 17 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting a meager .213 against Aumont, with just one extra-base hit allowed in 49 batters faced.
The 2007 first-round draft pick of the Seattle Mariners, 2019 is Aumont’s 12th season in professional baseball. He made 46 appearances in the major leagues for the Philadelphia Phillies between 2012 and 2015. In addition to pitching for the Champions in 2017, Aumont has also played in the Seattle, Toronto, Detroit and Chicago White Sox organizations.
