Ottawa 8, Shikoku Island 0 – Box Score

Ottawa finished off the four-game sweep of Shikoku Island as they defeated the All-Star team by the final of 8-0.

Champions starting pitcher Austin Chrismon (pictured) was terrific on the mound tonight as he tossed a seven-hit complete game shutout. The East Carolina University product gave up a walk and struck out seven batters in the 103-pitch performance. With this outing, Chrismon grabbed his second win of the season.

Ottawa collected 10 hits as a team with four batters having multi-hit games. Champions CF Steve Brown and SS Malik Collymore each contributed a pair of hits and two runs while LF Brian Portelli launched a first inning two-run home run and four RBIs.

For Shikoku Island, LF Takai Yuka had a 2-for-3 night.


Trois-Rivieres 9, Rockland 6 – Box Score

Trois-Rivieres scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to grab a 7-5 lead and would go on from there to defeat Rockland by the final of 9-6.

The Aigles had 10 hits in the contest with seven of the nine batters in the lineup collecting at least one. Trois-Rivieres 2B David Glaude and 3B Tucker Nathans each picked-up a pair of hits and three runs while SS Taylor Brennan added a run and an RBI in a 2-for-5 night. First baseman Juan Kelly also chipped in his third home run in four games for the Aigles, a two-run shot in the first inning.

Trois-Rivieres starter and June Pitcher of the Month Garrett Harris tossed six innings of work and collected the victory. The righty gave up five earned runs on three hits and struck out six batters. With the win, Harris is now a perfect 6-0 on the season.

For Rockland in defeat, CF Chase Harris had a 1-for-2 night with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs.


Sussex County 5, New Jersey 0 – Box Score

Sussex County starting pitcher Jeff Thompson and reliever Jose Jose combined on a nine-hit shutout as the Miners downed New Jersey, 5-0.  The victory by the Miners was their fifth straight.

Thompson tossed the first eight innings of the contest and gave up a pair of walks and seven hits to go along with seven strikeouts. The 27-year-old threw 111 pitches in the outing, with 66 going for strikes. Jose finished the final inning allowing a walk and two hits while fanning two in the six batters he faced. Thompson notched the win and is now 6-0 on the year.

Offensively for Sussex County, 3B/DH Nate Coronado went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI while RF Noah Cummings added a hit in three at-bats along with a walk and a run scored.

Second baseman Nelson Ward went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks in the loss for the Jackals.
