DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has announced that Ottawa Champions INF Daniel Bick (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending July 1.
Bick was 11-for-27 (.407) at the plate this week, recording a pair of three-hit games. He notched a pair of doubles, a home run, and five RBI.
The Alpharetta, Ga. resident opened his week on Monday at the Trois-Rivieres Aigles with a hit and an RBI in an 8-4 Ottawa win. After a hitless game Tuesday, Bick was 1-for-3 with a double in Wednesday’s 7-2 Champions win. Despite a 6-3 setback on Thursday, Bick posted his first of back-to-back three hit games.
Bick achieved the three-hit feat again on Friday, adding a home run and two RBI to his line as the Champions fell at the hands of the New Jersey Jackals 6-4. Ottawa recovered from their series opening loss, as the Champions posted a 10-0 win on Saturday, and Bick had a hit and RBI. Bick helped lead Ottawa to the series win on Sunday, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the Champions’ 4-0 win on Canada Day.
Bick is now hitting .304 on the season with nine doubles, a triple, and a home run. He has driven in 13 runs and stolen nine bases. Bick has become a fixture in the Champions lineup, as he has played in 260 games in an Ottawa uniform over the course of the last four seasons. Bick’s best season batting average was a .259 mark in 2015, while his best marks in doubles (18), home runs (7), and RBI (36) all occurred in 2017.
Prior to beginning his professional career, Bick played collegiately at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Ga.
The Champions will open a road series at the Rockland Boulders tonight at 7:00 p.m. The game, like all in the Can-Am League, can be seen live and for free at www.canamleague.tv.
