FIVE-RUN SIXTH LEADS MINERS PAST CHAMPIONS

Sussex County 7, Ottawa 3 – Box Score

Sussex County scored five runs in the sixth inning to grab a 6-2 advantage and would go on from there to defeat Ottawa by the score of 7-3.

The Miners had eight hits in the contest with three batters having multi-hit games. Sussex County 1B Audy Ciriaco led the way going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Miners 3B Nate Coronado scored a run and drove in three in a 2-for-4 night while LF Breland Almadova (pictured) collected a pair of doubles and two RBIs in a 2-for-4 outing.

Sussex County starting pitcher David Palladino gave up an earned run over six innings of work and earned the victory. The righty allowed two walks and three hits to go along with four strikeouts. With the win, Palladino is now 4-2 on the season.

For the Champions in the losing effort, 2B Jiandido Tromp launched his sixth home run of the season, a solo shot in the sixth inning.

 

Quebec 7, New Jersey 3 – Box Score

Quebec scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to erase a 2-0 deficit and beat New Jersey by a 7-3 final. With the victory, the Capitales took three out of four in the series.

Starting pitcher Austin Chrismon tossed five innings of work for Quebec and notched his second win of the season. Chrismon (2-1) gave up two earned runs on three hits and struck out four batters.

Offensively for the Capitales, SS Yordan Manduley led the way going 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Quebec LF Brandon Fischer tallied a run in a 1-for-4 night while DH Stayler Hernandez and 1B Zach Wilson each had a hit, a run scored and an RBI. The Capitales had only five hits in the contest but was aided by four New Jersey errors.

Designated hitter David Harris went 1-for-4 with a run scored in the loss for the Jackals.

 

Trois-Rivieres 6, Rockland 3 – Box Score

Catcher Joe Deluca hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to give Trois-Rivieres a 4-3 lead and they would go on from there to defeat Rockland by a final of 6-3.

The Aigles collected 10 hits in the game with eight batters in the lineup picking-up at least one. Trois-Rivieres SS Tucker Nathans went 1-for-3 with two runs scored while 2B David Glaude had two hits in four at-bats along with a run. Left fielder Alberth Martinez also helped the Aigles offense by picking-up a run and an RBI in a 2-for-4 night.

Trois-Rivieres pitcher Cam Lafleur tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief and notched his fifth win of the 2019 season. Lafleur (5-2) gave up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts in the nine batters he faced.

Boulders 1B Matt Oberste had a 1-for-4 night with two runs scored and an RBI.
