Ottawa 7, Salina 1 – Box Score

The Ottawa Champions jumped out to a 3-0 lead after three innings of play and would cruise from there to a 7-1 win over the Salina Stockade. The Champions collected 10 hits as a team and was led by leadoff hitter Coco Johnson (pictured) who went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Ottawa DH Sebastien Boucher had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with a run and RBI while RF Steve Brown had a hit and drove in a pair of runs.

Champions pitcher Jake Hale threw five innings of relief to pick-up the victory. Hale gave up an earned run on three hits with five strikeouts in 69 pitches. The righty is now 3-2 on the season.

For Salina in the losing effort, RF Tom McKenna went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

 

Trois-Rivieres 6, Quebec 4 – Box Score

Right fielder Taylor Oldham and SS Sam Dexter hit back-to-back RBI singles in the eighth inning to make it 6-2 Trois-Rivieres and that would prove to be enough as the Aigles defeated Quebec by a 6-4 score. After 3 ½ scoreless innings of play, Trois-Rivieres plated a pair of runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to grab a 4-0 lead. The Capitales would cut their deficit in half in the sixth as a 3B Josh Vitters double and a C Adam Ehrlich single made it 4-2 Aigles. Trois-Rivieres would then get the two key runs in the eighth with the Oldham and Dexter singles to take a 6-2 advantage and seal up the victory. Quebec plated a pair of runs in the ninth.

Dexter went 2-for-4 with an RBI while C Anthony Hermelyn had two hits in four at-bats along with a run scored and two RBI. Aigles starting pitcher Yender Caramo tossed six solid innings to notch his first victory of the season. Caramo allowed two earned runs on eight hits with a walk.

 

Sussex County 13, Dominican Republic 0 (5 Innings) – Box Score

In a game shortened to 4 ½ innings due to inclement weather, Sussex County finished off the sweep as they defeated the Dominican Republic national team, 13-0. The Miners had 10 hits in the contest and plated at least a run in each of their four frames, including eight in the fourth. Sussex County DH Christian Correa led the way at the plate going 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI. Miners leadoff hitter Jayce Ray scored a run and drove in one in a 2-for-3 day while INF Jarred Mederos had a pair of RBI and two runs scored.

Sussex County starting pitcher Andrew Vinson tossed five shutout innings and collected his first win of the year. Vinson gave a hit and a walk and struck out seven batters.

 

Rockland 4, New Jersey 1 – Box Score

Rockland tallied three runs in the second inning to grab a 3-0 lead and that would be more than enough in taking home a 4-1 victory over New Jersey. In the three-run second, Boulders C Marcus Nidiffer blasted a solo home run and 2B Jared McDonald collected a two-run single. The Jackals scored their lone run in the fifth as DH Seth Spivey came home from third on a wild pitch. Rockland added a run in the eighth on a double by RF Conor Bierfledt.

Boulders pitcher Matt Kostalos tossed a scoreless eighth inning with a pair of strikeouts to nab the win. Kostalos is now 5-3 on the season.

For New Jersey in the loss, Spivey had a 1-for-3 day.
