HITTING .402 IN JULY, AIGLES’ GLADU IS BATTER OF THE MONTH

Thornhill, Ontario — Trois-Rivières Aigles OF Raphaël Gladu is the Can-Am League’s Batter of the Month for the month of July, as selected by PointStreak, the league’s official statistician.

In 24 games, Gladu hit .402 (35-for-87) with five home runs, eight doubles and 34 RBI as the Aigles went 16-9 on the month. The Trois-Rivières native had 11 multiple-hit games and 10 multiple-RBI games in July. Currently, Gladu has compiled a .359 average on the season, and despite missing all of June, his 40 RBI are second-most on the Aigles. He has been especially lethal with runners on base this season, hitting .472, with all five of his home runs coming with men on base.

Gladu returned to the Aigles in July after spending the month of June in the New York Mets’ organization. The 24-year-old also played the 2017 and 2018 seasons in the Mets’ system, reaching the High-A level. He was originally a 16th-round choice by the Mets in the 2017 draft out of Louisiana Tech University.
