DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has announced that Rockland Boulders OF Kevin Krause (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending August 12.

The Staten Island, N.Y. native recorded a hit in six of the seven games in which he played this week, going 13-for-28 (.464) with four doubles, two home runs, and nine RBI.

Krause began his week on Monday at home against the Quebec Capitales with a 3-for-4 night that included a double, a walk, an RBI, and a run scored. He was 1-for-3 on Tuesday, and recorded another three-hit game on Wednesday. In the series finale against Quebec, Krause fell a triple shy of the cycle, racking up three RBI and two runs scored in the contest that the Boulders won 8-4.

The Boulders traveled north of the border to open a four-game set against the Ottawa Champions on Thursday, and Krause’s hot bat made the trip. In a 5-2 series-opening win, Krause was 2-for-5 with his second home run in as many games, a two-run shot in the fifth inning. He also added an RBI single. Krause drove in two more runs on Friday, part of a 1-for-3 game. His lone hitless game of the week came on Saturday, but he bounced back with a 3-for-5 game Sunday that included two doubles and two runs scored in a 6-0 victory.

On the season, Krause is now hitting .326, sixth best in the Can-Am League. He has racked up 24 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, and 38 RBI.

Krause is in his first season in independent baseball and with Rockland. He was a ninth round pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft, and reached as high as the Class AA level in the Pirates system. Krause played his collegiate baseball at Stony Brook University, helping the Seawolves make an improbable run to the 2012 College World Series.

The Boulders return home tonight to open a series against the New Jersey Jackals with a 7:00 p.m. game. The game, like all in the Can-Am League, can be seen live and for free at www.canamleague.tv.
