Sussex County 9, Quebec 2 – Box Score
With the score tied at 1-1 through four innings of play, Sussex County tallied eight consecutive runs over their final four trips to plate to take home a 9-2 win over Quebec. With the victory, the Miners regained sole possession of first place in the Can-Am League.
Sussex County starting pitcher David Rollins (pictured) tossed eight solid innings in earning his sixth victory of the season. Rollins gave up one earned run on six hits with a pair of walks and four strikeouts. The southpaw currently leads the league in earned run average (1.24) and strikeouts (77).
Offensively, the Miners banged out 13 hits in the contest. Sussex County leadoff hitter Connor Crane went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI while 3B Martin Figueroa contributed two hits and two runs batted in. Catcher Luis Alen also chipped in a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate and plated a run.
For Quebec in the losing effort, 1B Adam Ehrlich went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Trois-Rivieres 8, Rockland 6 – Box Score
With Rockland leading 3-2 after 3 ½ innings, Trois-Rivieres took full control of the contest scoring six runs over the next three innings and defeating the Boulders, 8-6.
The Aigles collected 15 hits as a team with five batters having multi-hit games. Trois-Rivieres 2B Taylor Oldham went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs while LF Javier Herrera added a pair of hits, including a blast, and three runs batted in. Third baseman Taylor Brennan and CF Alberth Martinez also launched home runs and 1B Kevin Cornelius had four hits and scored a run for the Aigles.
Trois-Rivieres starting pitcher Tyler Garkow allowed three earned runs over five innings pitched to notch the victory. Garkow gave up nine hits and two walks while striking out four. The righty is now 5-2 on the season.
For Rockland in the loss, DH Marcus Nidiffer went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored.
