Thornhill, Ontario — Sussex County Miners RHP David Palladino is the Can-Am League’s Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 22-28, as selected by PointStreak, the league’s official statistician.
Palladino was superb in his only outing of the week, earning a complete-game victory in a 6-1 win over Ottawa Sunday. The native of Emerson, N.J., limited the Champions to five hits while striking out seven as the Miners completed a 5-1 week and increased their lead on first place in the standings to 3.5 games.
Palladino improved his record on the season to 3-1 with the win. In his first season with the Miners, he has been used both as a starter and a reliever on the league’s top pitching staff. Prior to Sussex County, the 26-year-old spent the 2018 campaign in the Can-Am League with Rockland, where he went 5-2 with a 2.92 ERA in 71.0 innings of work. Palladino also spent the 2013 through 2017 seasons in the New York Yankees’ organization after being chosen in the 5th round of the 2013 draft out of Howard (Texas) College.
