QUEBEC ADVANCES TO CLCS; TROIS-RIVIERES FORCES A DECISIVE GAME FIVE

Quebec 7, Rockland 3 (Quebec wins series, 3-1) – Box Score

Quebec will get the opportunity to repeat as Can-Am League champions as they advanced to the league championship series with a 7-3 win over Rockland. The Capitales scored four runs in the sixth inning to overcome a 3-2 deficit and cruise to the decisive victory.

The Capitales had 11 hits in the game with four batters having multi-hit games. Zach Wilson went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI while Maxx Tissenbaum (pictured) added a pair of hits in four at-bats and three runs batted in. Yordan Manduley and James McOwen each chipped in two hits as well for Quebec and Kalian Sams launched his third home run of the postseason.

Capitales pitcher Jay Johnson threw three scoreless innings of relief to notch his second win of the series. Johnson allowed a hit and struck out three in the 10 batters that he faced.

For Rockland in the loss, Conrad Gregor had a 3-for-4 outing with a home run.

Quebec will begin the CLCS on Tuesday night and play the winner of the Trois-Rivieres-Sussex County series.

 

Trois-Rivieres 8, Sussex County 6 (Series tied, 2-2) – Box Score

Trois-Rivieres forced a winner-take-all game five as they defeated Sussex County by the score of 8-6. With the Miners leading 5-3 after six innings of play, the Aigles scored two runs in the seventh to tie up the contest and then three more in the ninth to take the lead for good.

The Aigles banged out 10 hits in the game and was led by Alberth Martinez who went 4-for-5 with two home runs, two doubles and six RBIs. Taylor Brennan and Sam Dexter each collected a hit and scored two runs while Michael Suchy doubled and drove in a run.

Trois-Rivieres pitcher Ethan Elias tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief and earned the victory. Elias gave up a hit and a walk while striking out one in the 33-pitch outing.

For Sussex County in the losing effort, Audy Ciriaco had a 3-for-5 game with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Game five will be at Skylands Stadium on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 PM.
