AUGUST 6 LEAGUE RECAP
Quebec 10, Rockland 4 – Box Score
The Quebec Capitales brought the offense to the ballpark tonight as they surged past Rockland by the score of 10-4.
Quebec pounded out 17 hits in the contest with six batters having multi-hit games. Capitales CF Kalian Sams (pictured) went 3-for-5 with two home runs, two runs scored and four RBIs while 1B Zach Wilson had three hits in three at-bats along with a blast, a pair of runs and three runs batted in. Shortstop Yordan Manduley and RF Brad Antchak also launched home runs in the game for Quebec.
Capitales starting pitcher Brett Lee tossed 7 1/3 innings and notched his second win of the season. Lee gave up three earned runs on four hits and struck out four batters.
For the Boulders in the loss, C Kevin Krause went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
Sussex County 10, Trois-Rivieres 7 (11 Innings) – Box Score
Sussex County scored three runs in the top of the 11th inning to break a 7-7 tie and defeat Trois-Rivieres by the score of 10-7.
The Aigles jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning thanks to a three-run home run by 3B Kevin Cornelius. The Miners would come back and tack on a run in third and two more in the fifth to grab a 4-3 advantage. After Trois-Rivieres tied the contest up at 4-4, each team would plate three in the seventh to make it a 7-7 game. The contest would eventually go into extra innings where Sussex County scored the three runs in the 11th to win the game.
Shortstop Mikey Reynolds led the way for the Miners going 4-for-6 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Sussex County RF Breland Almadova had two hits in five at-bats along with three RBIs while 1B Audy Ciriaco hit a home run and scored twice in a 1-for-5 night.
Miners pitcher El’Hajj Muhammed struck out five in two innings of relief to earn his first victory.
