DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has announced that Quebec Capitales INF TJ White (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending August 26.

White went 8-for-25 (.320) at the plate this week, notching two doubles, three home runs, and 10 RBI.

On Monday, he began his week with an 0-for-2 game against the Ottawa Champions at home, but drew three walks and scored a run in a 6-5 Quebec win. His first hit of the week came in a Tuesday setback to Ottawa that evened the series, but helped propel the Capitales to a win on Wednesday with a 1-for-4 night that featured a run scored in a 4-3 triumph. White’s best game of the week came on Thursday, when he went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs, five RBI and two runs scored as Quebec clinched the series with a 6-4 victory.

Quebec hit the road for the weekend, travelling to the Sussex County Miners. White recorded a sacrifice fly in a Friday defeat, and drove in another run on Saturday via the same method. He also had a hit in the Saturday game, but the Capitales were unable to come out on top. White recorded another big game on Sunday, helping the Capitales salvage the final game of the series. He was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in a 10-4 triumph.

On the season, White is hitting .294 in 71 games. He has racked up 21 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, and 43 RBI.

White is in the midst of his first season with Quebec after parts of five seasons in the Minnesota Twins organization. He was an 18th-round draft pick of the Twins in 2014 out of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV), and split his debut season in 2014 between the rookie level Gulf Coast League Twins and the Elizabethton (Tenn.) Twins of the Appalachian League. White’s first taste of full-season baseball came in 2015, when he played in 126 games between the Class A Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Kernels of the Midwest League and the Class A Advanced Fort Myers (Fla.) Miracle of the Florida State League. White split 2016 between Fort Myers and the Class AA Chattanooga (Tenn.) Lookouts in the Southern League before posting his best season with Chattanooga in 2017. Over 96 games with the Lookouts in the 2017 season, White hit .276 with 26 doubles, four triples, 14 home runs, and 65 RBI. White returned to Chattanooga for 39 games prior to joining Quebec this season.

The Capitales, who own a 4.5-game edge for second place in the Can-Am League, will enjoy an off day today. Quebec will then open a road series at the Ottawa Champions on Tuesday with a 7:05 p.m. game. That game, like all in the Can-Am League, can be seen live and for free at www.canamleague.tv.
