Thornhill, Ontario — PointStreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has announced that Rockland Boulders RHP David Palladino has been named Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 18-24.

Palladino’s first outing of the week came on Tuesday, June 19, when he pitched two scoreless innings in the Boulders’ 7-2 loss to New Jersey, striking out three. Against Salina on Saturday, in his first start of the season, the Emerson, N.J., native was dominant, pitching five shutout innings and fanning 10 of the 17 hitters he faced in Rockland’s 3-2 victory.

So far this season, Palladino has no record with a 3.37 ERA in 9 outings, striking out 24 in 13.1 innings of work while walking just four.

The 25-year-old is in his first season with Rockland after spending five seasons in the New York Yankees’ organization. In 2017, he split the season between Short Season-A Staten Island of the New York-Penn League and High-A Tampa of the Florida State League, going 2-1 with a 0.98 ERA in 15 relief outings. Palladino was originally chosen by the Yankees in the 5th round of the 2013 draft out of the University of South Carolina-Upstate.

Palladino is the first Boulder to win Pitcher of the Week honors this season.

The Boulders will enjoy an off day on Monday before opening a road series at first-place Sussex County on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. The game, like all in the Can-Am League, can be seen live and for free at
